Legal Assistant (Remote, Contract Role)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our team in a remote, contract-based position. This short-term opportunity offers an exciting chance to be involved in a variety of legal support tasks, including managing service of process documents, handling consumer complaints, and overseeing corporate insurance claims. The role is vital in ensuring smooth communication and workflow between departments and clients while maintaining high standards of professionalism and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
Service of Process Management: Oversee the processing of service of process documents, ensuring they are routed correctly to the relevant departments in a timely manner.
Collaboration with Claims Departments: Work closely with the claims team to facilitate efficient operations, ensuring all necessary documentation is processed and filed.
Subpoena Handling: Manage subpoenas by reviewing, responding, and ensuring they are routed to the appropriate department or individual.
Consumer Complaint Management: Handle a high volume of consumer complaints, logging them accurately and directing them to the correct department for resolution.
Corporate Insurance Claims: Manage insurance claims and applications, ensuring that all paperwork is submitted, tracked, and filed according to company procedures.
Utilize Legal Software: Use tools such as Aderant, Adobe Acrobat, ACRIS (Automated City Register Information System), and Case Management Software to efficiently carry out responsibilities.
Calendar & Client Management: Leverage your organizational skills to manage schedules, appointments, and client relationships to ensure smooth communication between clients, team members, and other departments.
Problem-Solving: Apply your knowledge of insurance claims, subpoenas, and legal processes to address and resolve issues as they arise.
Additional Duties: Assist with any other tasks related to the Legal Assistant role, contributing to a collaborative and efficient team environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency in Aderant, Adobe Acrobat, and ACRIS (Automated City Register Information System).
Familiarity with Case Management Software, such as CompuLaw.
Strong experience with billing functions and claim administration.
Exceptional calendar management skills and attention to detail.
Solid understanding of insurance claims processes, procedures, and insurance companies.
Ability to handle subpoenas effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong focus on professionalism.
Strong client relations skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities.
Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently while meeting deadlines.
High degree of organization, reliability, and attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex issues efficiently.
Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and adhere to ethical standards in all tasks.
