Counseling In Schools is currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic person to fill a part-time hourly position as a Substitute After School Teaching Assistant at PS 47 in the Bronx. In this role, the Substitute After School Teaching Assistant is hired to be on- call to provide coverage for absent teaching assistants working with groups of elementary age children in a public school setting during after-school program hours to assist with instruction. The Substitute After School Teaching Assistant is expected to provide a safe and positive environment for the children with opportunities for recreation, learning, interaction and academic/personal growth. The Substitute After School Teaching Assistant may also be requested to assist with homework help and occasional field trips
Key Responsibilities: - Must have a strong interest in working with youth, provide guidance and inspiration.
- Ensure that age-appropriate instruction and activities are implemented for youth in grades K-5
- Maintain a safe, healthy, supportive, and collaborative learning environment for students
- Build positive relationships with youth and adults and serve as a role model with respect to demeanor, communication, behavior and community.
- Model and uphold all agency and school policies and procedures
- Co-facilitate and assist with daily lesson instruction for multiple groups of students
Job Qualifications: - Energetic, passionate and responsible
- Experience working with youth.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to co-facilitate and assist with daily lesson instruction
Requirements: Schedule Logistics: - This is an on call hourly position as needed
- Monday – Friday / On-Site
- 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm
- Location: Bronx, NY
Compensation: Hourly - $25.00/hr.
Candidates must clear a security background check from the Department of Education and Department of Health.
