The Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics (SCBE) is seeking a Social Science Research Professional 1 to contribute to our work on multiple federally-funded projects focused on ethical, legal and social issues in genetics and genomics.
The Social Science Research Professional 1 role and responsibilities will include overseeing project administration and compliance with regulatory requirements, communicating with potential and enrolled research participants, collecting and managing data, and assisting with data analysis. Data collection often requires having a study team member available at any moment to collect data based on a participant's schedule. Data analysis also requires detailed coding by multiple coders to ensure scientific rigor. The target individual for this position would be a current PhD student (or new graduate) in a social science discipline such as Sociology or Science, Technology, and Society (STS) seeking additional research experience or an individual with a bachelor's degree seeing additional experience in preparation for additional education. This individual will have prior experience utilizing qualitative research methods. This position is for a continuing term at 100% FTE.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Strong knowledge of qualitative analysis computer software including Dedoose and/or NVivo. Strong knowledge of computer software including Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Experience with Qualtrics and RedCap a plus.
* Ability to work independently and proactively in a fully remote work environment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
* General understanding of scientific theory and methods, typically gained through completion of an undergraduate degree in a related field.
* General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
* Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
* Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to work with human study participants

* Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

* Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl, rarely reach/work above shoulders, and operates foot and/or hand controls.

The expected pay range for this position is $24.33 to $33.77 per hour.
