About the University of Illinois Chicago Ambulatory Pharmacy Services, a unit of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Specialist to join the 340 Program Compliance Team. We are looking for knowledgeable, reliable, motivated, and detail-oriented candidates to apply. This on-site position is located in the Administration area of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services. This position requires demonstrated knowledge of the 340B Program and only applicants with demonstrated knowledge of 340B will be considered for this position. The working hours for this position are Monday through Friday with an 8-hour work shift between 7:00am and 6:00pm. UIC offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Supervising pharmacy technicians, pharmacy externs, and students in the daily functions of 340B audits, as assigned
- Assisting with payroll entry, scheduling, attendance monitoring, as assigned
- Collaborating with the 340B compliance team to establish hiring criteria, create job descriptions, and new hire recruiting, as applicable
- Developing and implementing a 340B compliance pharmacy technician training program and identify and plan for 340B staff development needs
- Providing feedback to facilitate the continuous evaluation of all processes and assist with annual performance evaluations, as assigned.
- Assisting the Assistant Director with monitoring the work of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy externs to assure maintenance of high-performance standard
- Participation in and support of quality improvement initiatives and comply with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Providing pharmacy buyer(s) with information required to place orders using the appropriate accounts to replenish inventory in the mixed-use inventory setting and educate others involved in the purchasing process to ensure proper operation and compliance.
- Demonstrating effective and timely communication with all colleagues, and navigating conflicts by discerning and engaging the right team members to swiftly resolve issues with optimal efficiency
- Developing a thorough understanding of the 340B Program and improve the overall efficiency, value, and internal support of the 340B Compliance Program
- Ensuring the Ambulatory pharmacies maintain adherence to 340B Program regulations and guidelines
- Developing a thorough understanding of the split-billing/third party administrator systems and functions
- Performing audits on a scheduled basis, as required
- Evaluating patient eligibility for qualified and non-qualified patients in mixed-use areas and clinics
- Developing and fostering working relationships with internal/external colleagues (IT, internal audit, accounting, etc.) to facilitate productive exchanges of information to improve program efficiency
- Assessing opportunities for cost savings and system improvements to yield higher compliance
- Building knowledge of the health care and pharmacy services industry; to identify and make recommendations to improve the 340B Program.
- Monitoring ordering processes, analyzing invoices, shipping, and inventory management processes.
- Fully participate and support quality improvement initiatives and comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required: - Five (5) years experience of progressively more responsible experience comparable to that gained at the Pharmacy Technician III level.
- Current registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
- State of Illinois Pharmacy Technician License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to accurately interpret data, determine validity of results, and initiate corrective action immediately.
- Ability to conduct 340B compliance audits.
