Job Description
The Maintenance and Electrical Planner ensures maintenance technicians have the tools, parts, and supporting documents they need to complete scheduled work orders safely and efficiently. Additional responsibilities include budgets and forecasts for preventative and predictive maintenance and variances. The planner is also responsible for scheduling maintenance in a way that minimizes equipment downtime and impact on production.
Responsibilities:
- Plan the execution of routine and non-routine repair procedures and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure compliance with the fundamental plant maintenance procedures and practices.
- Use established Reliability Excellence (RE) corporate and enterprise/group guidelines and procedures; plans to maximize equipment reliability and availability through effective use of planned maintenance to quickly return equipment to design capability and job ready.
- Create effective and sequenced work plans in accordance with RCM strategies to effectively execute required work to ensure asset health and overall production quality.
- Utilize planning index to prioritize work within the facility by identifying and implementing maintenance and reliability activities through the identification of the proper resources, tools and materials.
- Review approved work notifications through SAP to ensure requests meet minimum requirements of a work order to initiate work plans.
- Provide detailed work plans on documented work orders as required on all non-urgent maintenance activities including but not limited to Preventative Maintenance (Planned / Un-planned), Predictive Maintenance (PDM), Quantitative, and Failure Maintenance (Emergency)
- Establish validation and completion requirements.
- Assist in readily identifiable route maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with Procurement to order and reserve materials.
- Scope work orders to estimate cost, labor, materials, equipment and special tool requirements to complete the job in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- If necessary, scope work for external contractors, collaborate with procurement to issue an RFQ, evaluate and select bids, and manage onsite work for satisfactory, safe, and on-budget delivery
- Maintain job plan libraries to support required non-routine work, projects and overhauls via SAP.
- Site SAP Super User for workflow processes.
- Assure that the highest standards of Environmental and Safety performance are incorporated within the Plant operations.
- Ensure that all work is planned in a manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulations of this Company.
- Ensure effective and efficient implementation of daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly scheduling.
- Co-ordinate with all production activities to maintain established targets. Work within budget, environment, safety, and health concerns.
- Administer consistently all systems, standards, company rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Contribute to the Continuous Improvement Program by pro-active, measurable involvement.
- Optimally manage Human Resources with the help among others of the following indicators: quality, overtime, training, and development.
- Responsible for supporting business and facility Reliability Excellence vision.
- Support common reliability processes and metrics to achieve targeted results from maintenance and reliability practices.
- Validate the importance of Reliability Excellence through key Planning metrics (planning accuracy, planning backlog, monthly review of compliance audits, etc.)
- Support and leverages business Reliability Excellence direction and leadership for continuous improvement of the Planning Function.
- Competent in root cause failure analysis to continuously improve the reliability of the plant.
- Practical experience in the maintenance industry, preferably mine-related.
- Two years of experience with computer-based maintenance planning/ scheduling is required (Maximo, SAP, Oracle Plant Maintenance, etc.)
- Ability to read, understand, and maintain as-built drawings and schematics utilizing the applicable methods.
- Sound understanding of both the principles of preventative maintenance and maintenance planning.
- A clear understanding of the maintenance standards and procedures
- Must have the ability to work effectively with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) SAP.
- Communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
- Strong prioritization, organization, and reasoning skills.
- Strong mechanical and electrical expertise in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Ability to walk a job to ensure work has been completed per standard work instructions.
- Ability to develop individuals to achieve better results.
- Proficient in follow-up and feedback.
- Mechanical, civil, or metallurgical engineering degrees a benefit
- Experience in challenging environments
