In our Sacramento office, we are looking for an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support our Litigation Practice Group. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, professional setting, excel at multitasking, and embrace the opportunity to contribute to a team focused on delivering exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
As a Litigation Paralegal, you will be integral to our team, performing a variety of essential tasks, including:
Calendar Management: Schedule and organize attorney conferences, teleconferences, depositions, and travel arrangements. Monitor court appearance dates, pleadings, and filing requirements.
Document Preparation: Prepare and assemble documents and binders for state and federal court filings, including discovery, arbitration, appeals, labor commissioner hearings, and mediation.
Mail Management: Read, sort, save, and date incoming mail. Ensure outgoing mail is processed according to office procedures, including routing to delivery services for timely delivery of critical documents.
Legal Drafting: Draft letters and documents, gather and analyze information, schedule couriers, court reporters, and expert witnesses, and prepare visual aids for court presentations.
File Management: Maintain all client and general files, both hard copies and electronic formats, ensuring everything is organized and up to date.
Client Interaction: Provide exceptional service to clients and guests, both in person and over the phone, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Billing Support: Input time entries and assist with reviewing and editing bills as needed.
Continuing Education Tracking: Keep track of attorney MCLE hours, courses, and fees annually.
Team Collaboration: Assist fellow secretaries and take on additional duties as assigned to support team goals.
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
Experience: 7+ years of experience as a legal secretary, with extensive knowledge of civil litigation and both state and federal filing requirements.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and experience with document management systems.
Communication Skills: Excellent drafting and proofreading abilities, along with strong client-focused communication.
Knowledge: Familiarity with court procedures, e-filing systems (PACER, CM/ECF, EEOC Portal), and an understanding of civil litigation processes.
Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask effectively, meet deadlines, and manage time and stress well.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
Flexibility: Adaptability in managing multiple projects and assignments independently.
