About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Geology Intern in our Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Mokena, IL offices starting May 2025. This on-the-job experience will support the firm’s transportation departments by participating in a variety of projects.

What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job

• Assist in writing and preparing technical reports based on site information and characteristics.
• Conduct onsite environmental field surveys.
• Conduct onsite soil and groundwater sampling in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Conduct historical property research and form conclusions based on the information provided.
• Provide engineering/construction oversight for various projects.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education Requirement

• Pursuing a BS in Geology

• Available to start May 2025.
• Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).
• Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
• Strong written, verbal, computer and organizational skills.

Compensation -The hourly pay for this role is $21.00. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
