Location Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for an administrative faculty position as a visionary and effective tenured Professor and Chair of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) with a preferred start date of July 1, 2025. This is a twelve-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities Primary responsibilities of the Chair, who reports to the Dean, include, but are not limited to:
- Advocate for the department with respect to the mission and expectations of the department, college, and university
- Advocate for the interests of a growing department comprised of a dedicated faculty serving a vibrant student body
- Manage the department with a commitment to transparency, shared governance, collaborative decision-making, and the values of inquiry, fairness, and collegiality
- Promote a work environment that is respectful, fair, and caring for all faculty and staff
- Implement a plan for the departmental role in strengthening the university as an R2 research institution
- Oversee the department budget and resources
- Provide oversight of academic programs and developing new ones
- Recruit and retaining faculty and staff
- Mentor and steer the development of faculty and staff
- Evaluate faculty and staff performance according to departmental and university guidelines
- Commit to shared values of the department with respect to teaching, research, and in the administrative operations of the department
- Empower faculty and staff in the pursuit of excellence in teaching, and research, with an emphasis on student success
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
